Acupuncture for Backpain
For many people, backpain is temporary and will often get better with time. For
the rest, back pain may be a chronic disease that prevents the pursuit of a normal
life.
The advantage of using acupuncture to treat back pain is that acupuncture not only relieves the pain temporarily, but in many cases,
it can also effectively treat
the root
cause of the pain. In this way, acupuncture can benefit even those who
suffer from severe, chronic back pain.
Depending on the cause and severity of the pain, and the overall health of the patient,
we will develop a treatment plan consisting of traditional acupuncture or a combination
of acupuncture and exercises in accordance with our
Active Acupuncture
philosophy. Many of our patients see immediate results, increased mobility, and
less pain in just several treatments.
Testimonials
"I've been seeing Dr. Chen and Mr. Gu for my lower back and sacroiliac pain for
about 3 months. I came to them desperate for alternative solution when my sport
medicine doctor tried to prescribe me a very strong muscle relaxer after seeing
me for a few minutes. Dr. Chen and Mr. Gu are very interested in finding out the
root cause of your pains and they educate you about your body along the way. It
has been very informative as well as tremendously restorative experience for me.
I am feeling immeasurably better compared to the beginning of the treatment. They
are passionate and committed healers. I couldn't recommend them and acupuncture
for natural healing highly enough."

"I asked for help with the rigidity and pain from my severe scoliosis and with the
tremors from my Parkinson’s. Both the exercises I was assigned and the acupuncture
helped me to reestablish a sense of equilibrium and increased mobility, and an overall
feeling of calm. The service is excellent. They made me feel understood and your
attention was very individualized and steady.
What is unique about Dr. Chen’s and Mr. Gu’s practice is the combination of carefully
individualized exercise before the acupuncture, both directed at the immediate problems
and the underlying difficulty. The acupuncture is then given several times during
the treatment, achieving an amazing degree of relief and effectiveness."

Participants in the class reported that, since taking Gu’s exercise class, they
feel more invigorated and have more energy. Plus, they feel less pain from arthritic
conditions. Mildred Roach, who has a history of generalized arthritis, travels all
the way from Brooklyn by subway to take Gu’s class twice a week. She reports that,
due to his exercises, she is feeling less pain.
